He was born in Tunisia in 1981.
Romdhani cut his teeth on the poetry of Charles Baudelaire, the author of “The Flowers of Evil” and later he was inspired by such outstanding bards and writers as Fernando Pessoa and Herbert Zbiginiew.
“Dance of the Metaphors” is Rafik Romdhani's debut collection.
He has also authored the collections, “The Crash of Verses,” “Rough Roads,” and “Vapour of the Mind.”
“In the Wind I Stand”
In the Wind I Stand is in fact not only the product of Rafik Romdhani's mind, but rather an existential fragment written out of his heart. This indigenous short serves as a precursor to poetic reflection upon the human condition and the half-visible world around it. This book carves out enough space within the poet's attitude towards existence, a prism from which one could decipher and interpret such dynamic and inspiring concepts as immortality, struggle and perseverance, beauty and Nature, love, life, and death, and of course poetry. Standing in the wind could be construed as an analogy for what we call "being alive" at the core of a plethora of seemingly endless dualities and dimensions fueled with angst. But then again, there should be for the poet a unique perspective for photographing whatever emotions and thoughts born out of deeply- seated yearnings. In light of this, the collection at hand is meant to push far beyond the outmoded limits of art as well as the singularity of meaning in poetic creation.
